Whoa! Time just keeps getting away from me lately. Once again I’m down to the wire, as the cliché goes….but, OH WELL, these things happen in real life. And mine ‘don’t get no more real than this!’.
My main concern is to remind you about the meeting this Wednesday. I would like to start having “meeting topics” again, something Ben used to try to have each meeting. So, if you have a point of interest, something you want a little more information about, the upcoming meeting will be a good time to voice that interest. It may take me some time to arrange a speaker, or research the information, but it will give me some reference points and guides. I mean, who wants to hear about the technique of soldering on lead as opposed to copper foil? That might be something I would like, but it would put most of you to sleep. Any suggestions would be helpful.
I have heard that Roaring Camp was a good, fun outing, and I’m hoping members will share their stories and show some of the color they found. And, remember, you get a free raffle ticket for sharing during Show-and-Tell.
I’m also reminding everyone about the Bear River outing; this is the outing the club pays for. It will start on Sunday, August 4th, 2:00 PM and will end on August 8th at noon. On this outing we have the whole campground, which can accommodate up to 100 people and 35 vehicles. Guests are welcome. You can stay for one night, or all four.
The second outing is scheduled for September 29th through Thursday, October 3rd at noon. On this outing there will be a charge of $10.00 per night. Frank tried to defray expenses by renting only half the campground on this outing. Each campsite holds a maximum of 8 people and 2 vehicles; if you have ‘panning buddies’, maybe share expenses and a campsite.
I hope to see you on Wednesday, July 17th, Vet’s Building in Santa Rosa, at between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM. Bring your stories, bring something to share, but most importantly, bring yourself.
No picnic ‘news’ yet, but maybe by the time the meeting gets here………..????? I’m moving back to Sebastopol so my time is stretched THIN with the sorting of 25 years of Buck’s and my things. I’m hoping you’ll cut me some slack; or you can go ahead and find the spot?? And, THANKS to those members whom have sent me site info; it is VERY much appreciated.
Take care,
Kathe
It was a small town and the patrolman was making his evening rounds. As he was checking a used car lot, he noticed two older ladies sitting in one of the used cars. He stopped and asked them why they were sitting there in the car; were they trying to steal it?! “Good Heavens NO! We bought it” was the reply. “Then why don’t you drive it away?” “Oh Officer, we can’t drive!” “Then why did you buy it?” “Well, we were told that if we bought a used car here we’d get screwed…so we’re just waiting……”
